Poster Contest

Poster Contest Winner Announced

Thanks to everyone who entered the 2017 Cathedral Park Jazz Festival poster contest!

We are pleased to announce that the winner of the contest is Sergio Maldonado.

Sergio Maldonado Biography

I am currently a senior at Battle Ground High School, in Battle Ground, Washington. Because I enjoy technology and design, I have focused much of my coursework in these types of career & technical education classes. In classes like Web Design, 3-D Modeling and Graphic Design, I can challenge my creativity and explore my interests at the same time. This year in Graphic Design II, we built a portfolio of projects to showcase our design skills. For one of these pieces, my teacher, Ms. Pellico encouraged me to enter the poster contest for the 37th Annual Cathedral Park Jazz Festival. I really don’t know much about jazz, but after some research, I found out more about the event. I was fascinated with the repeated arch shape seen from underneath the beautiful and unique St. John’s Bridge. The repeated arch shape is a dominate part of my design concept, along with the musical notes, blue color tones and rough overlay of texture. My hope was to show the beauty and outdoor nature of this free musical event.
